Can you replace a fence post without removing the panels?

Usually yes. Panels either side can be lifted out or supported while the old post and its concrete come out and the new one goes in. The panels then go straight back. Closeboard fencing built on site takes a little more work but can also be done in sections.

Should I use a concrete or timber fence post?

Concrete posts last much longer because nothing rots at ground level, and panels can be lifted out for future repairs. Timber looks better and costs less to buy. On a fence you want to leave alone for twenty years, concrete is the sensible choice.

How long does fence post replacement take?

A single post is usually a couple of hours, plus time for the concrete to set before the fence takes any load. Several posts along one run can normally be done in a day. We leave the fence supported if the concrete needs longer to cure.
